Public folder calendars not working properly

Hi All,

I'm and Exchange 2003 Admin and we've just recently upgraded from Exchange
5.5. We have shared a number of meeting room calendars using public folders
so that people can access them more easily.
The problem I have is that when a user views a tentative appointment in one
of these public folder calendars it automatically creates a copy of the
appointment in the users local Outlook calendar.

All public frolders have been migrated over to Exchange 2003 and I am almost
ready to start switching off my Exchange 5.5 boxes.

Any help on this would be great

This is a known issue, resolved by upgrading to Outlook 2007 or by using a mailbox for each resource calendar rather than a public folder.

Hi Sue, Although i'm sure that Outlook 2007 resolves a number of issues it
is not a viable option for us to upgrade at this point in time on a corporate
scale. Is there not a patch available for this as it is a known issue?

Going back to mailboxes means that my users will not be able to view the
meeting rooms nicely grouped as public folders and will mean more of a
management overhead, so if I can avoid this then that would be good.

The resolutions I suggested are the only ones I know of. Given that public folders are not intended for use as resource calendars, I would not expect a fix to solve this problem.

Users can use the Group Schedule feature to view meeting rooms grouped together.
