public folder: read / unread information

We use in our environment an Exchange 2007 Server and Outlook 2002 is the
e-mail client.
We have created public folder on this Exchange server. But in some public
folder the user can't change the status from unread (bold) to read (regular).
And on the other hand in some other folder the user are able to change the
status of the e-mails.
And if I read the messages over the owa, I'm able to marked the mail as
read. But this message is still shown as unread in Outlook.

Has anyone some ideas whats incorrect configured?

I'd start by looking at the permissions.

Ohh, I'm sorry,

I've forgotten to write, that my admin useraccount has also no chance to
mark the e-mails as readed.
So it's no permission problem.
