Public folder

I'm a Mac user on a Windows network and I just upgraded to Office 2008.
While my Mac-using partner had no trouble connecting to the Public Folder in
Entourage, it's not showing up for me and I don't know why. Any ideas on how
to make the public folder appear?

Hi Tim!

Public folders are handled by your public folders server. You need to
make sure that address is correct.

While these instructions were written for Entourage 2004, they still
apply to Entourage 2008. Use them to double-check your setup.

"Connecting Entourage to an Exchange Server at work"

"Connecting Entourage to an Exchange Server from Home"

If you continue to have problems, please post back.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

However, in Entourage 2008, the "Advanced" tab looks totally different. I
don't see any place to enter a Public folders server...

Rather than Public Folder Settings and Directory Settings, I'm seeing
Special Folders and Delete Options under Advanced... And I don't see Public
Folder Settings on any of the other tabs, either.

What version of 2008 do you have? If you have the Home and School
version i don't believe it will support exchange server.

I don't believe that's the problem, because the Public Folders are
accessible for my assistant, who installed the same version on a Mac
identical to mine.

I went back and looked at my Entourage 2004 and noticed that I had lost the
ability to access the public folders from there as well. I used to be able
to. So I thought it might be a permissions problem, but I can access the
public folders via our Exchange web mail system, so that's not the problem
either.

I'm going to grasp at straws here but are you running 12.2.2?
Seems to me back when I installed 2008 it advised me to remove any older
versions of office. Maybe Diane or Bill can jump in here and shed some more
light or maybe I'm way off base :).

It's 12.0.0

Hi Tim!

You're trying to set up your account as an IMAP account. You need to set
up your account as an Exchange account.

Hope this helps!

Yes -- our IT guy just came to my office and noticed the same thing.
Problem's solved now. Thanks!
