publish administrator settings

K

Ken Glynn

When I go to publish a Project to Server, I get the
following error message:

"You are trying to publish a non-enterprise project to
Microsoft Project Server. The administrator settings on
the server do not allow you to publish non-enterprise
projects."

We didn't buy Project with Enterprise functions. Does
this mean that we'll never be able to publish a project
to Server?

If not, how do we proceed?

thanks in advance,

Ken

Ken:

I'm going to suggest that you 1) review the courseware on using Microsoft
Project 2002 Pro and Server that Microsoft provides at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...nol/project/project2002/training/prj02trn.asp

2) Buy my book which will be shipping in another week. Search on my name at
Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Title: Implementing Portfolio Management using
Microsoft Project Server 2002.

The questions you're asking indicate that you need to spend some time
absorbing fundamentals.

Before you begin publishing project plans to Project Server, you must first
create a server account in Project Professional under Tools > Enterprise
Options > Project Server Accounts.

Once you're connected, you can create an enterprise project in two ways. 1)
By creating a new project while connected to the server or 2) By using the
Import Project to Enterprise wizared provided under Tools > Enterprise
Options.
