publish custom fields in 2007

css34

I have a custom enterprise text field. In 2003, the values I inserted in the
mpp file where published to PWA views because I had the option to go to
"tools" - "Customize" - "enterprise fields" option under tools... I can't
find a way to do the same thing in Pro 2007.

Help.

Hi css34,

I assume that you would like to make task custom fields available in Project
Server 2007. When you open your project go to Tools > customise > fields. Go
to the Task fields and find your custom field that you wish to make
accessable to Project Server. You will find a button called "Add Field to
Enterprise....". Once you are absolutly sure that you want this custom field
in Proejct Server click this button and it will tranfer this into an
"Enterprise field".

Generally, the custom field maintenance in 07 has dramatically changed in
comparision of 03. Most custom fields require to be created within PWA.

I hope this helps

I believe that I have the actual field set up correctly, the problem I am
having is the data is not coming back to my "My Assignments" View like I
expected. The column is there, but the data is not coming over... Please
help.

Thanks.

Hi css34,

When you say the data is not comming back in the "My assignment View" where
do you expect the data to show up?

in PWA Under Project Details? or in "My tasks"?
Thanks

I have modified the "My Assignments" View in PWA to include this custom
field. In the MPP file, I have filed in the field with a value of "3" for
one of my tasks. I publish the project, but the value of 3 is not displayed
in the "My Assignments" View in that column for the task, there is no data.

Thanks.

Make sure you are setting the value "3" at the assignment level, not just at
the task level. In your Project Plan on the server (which is not an MPP by
the way) change the view to Task Usage and include your custom field. Set
the values at the assignment level and re-publish and see if that shows the
values you are looking for in "My Assignments"
