Publish New and Changed Assignments - SYSTEM ERROR (0x80004005)

Please help!

We are at a critical phase of our project, and I've suddenly started getting
this spooler error. When I Publish New and Changed Assignments - I get
system error 0x80004005. I have project pro 2003 with SP2 (Version
11.2.2005.1801.15).

The KB articles I've looked up all refer to SP1 and a hot fix of some kind.
The articles don't say anything about publishing.

I'm not even sure where to start. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Anna

Anna, this is a tough one. This error code (from what the MS support rep that
worked with me on the same issue) is a general 'misc error' code that doesn't
map to a single issue or resolution. You can sometimes find relief by
exporting the project to an XML file, deleting the project from the server
and reimporting.

Hi Bill -

Ouch. OK, well, unless the error prevents tasks from publishing - I can
probably live with it. Thanks for the reply! It's at least good to know I'm
not alone :). Did you find any errors on what was published to your team? Or
do you think it is probably OK for me to ignore. We will be finished with
this project by the end of November.

Thanks!

I really can't say with certainty whether it was related to this issue or
others but the project plan affected did occasionally contan discrepancies
between itself and resource timesheets.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for pitching in :). I do get this error every day when I try to
publish new and changed assignments for one particular project. This project
is 96% complete, I am conerned that this error will cause me problems. So
far, I don't have any people complaining of anything. Is there a good way
for me to diagnose the problem?

Thanks,

Anna
