Publish New and changes Assignment - error code 0x800A0CC1

Hi All,

I am facing problem while publishing Project Plan from Professional 2003 to
project server 2003.

When i publish project plan, project name is getting listed in Project
Center but no task are getting displayed. I used Collaborate menu and tried
Publish New Task and Changed Assigment as well. When I tried to pubish New
Task and Changed Assigment , i am getting the - "Error Type -Publish New and
changes Assignment - error code 0x800A0CC1 " .

What is the solution for this problem, please help.

HI All,

I have not yet got any reply for this question. please if anybody could help
me out in this regard, it will be of great help. Once i got into this
problem, then reinstalled project server, then it started working, now again
i am facing same problem, let me know if any other solution is there,
everytime I can not loose the data.

Please help at the earliest.

It's not that you're being ignored, but you're asking a question that can
only be answered by a thorough examination of your installation. You're out
of news group diagnosis range with a problem like this. What are you seeing
in the server application event log? Post each error entirely; maybe that
will give us more of a clue, but no promises.

The first server is suffering from assignment duplication. These can be
resolved by removing the plans with assignment dupes and bring them back
into the system through the import process

In the second case, you project with ID#103 has become corrupt.

The prevalence of problems like these often indicates a training deficiency,
and server monitoring and maintenance deficiency or both.

It's not that you're being ignored, but you're asking a question that can
only be answered by a thorough examination of your installation. You're out
of news group diagnosis range with a problem like this. What are you seeing
in the server application event log? Post each error entirely; maybe that
will give us more of a clue, but no promises.

HI All,

I have not yet got any reply for this question. please if anybody could
help
me out in this regard, it will be of great help. Once i got into this
problem, then reinstalled project server, then it started working, now
again
i am facing same problem, let me know if any other solution is there,

Hi All,

I am facing problem while publishing Project Plan from Professional 2003
to
project server 2003.

When i publish project plan, project name is getting listed in Project
Center but no task are getting displayed. I used Collaborate menu and
tried
Publish New Task and Changed Assigment as well. When I tried to pubish
New
Task and Changed Assigment , i am getting the - "Error Type -Publish New
and
changes Assignment - error code 0x800A0CC1 " .

What is the solution for this problem, please help.

Hi Gary,

The first server is suffering from assignment duplication. These can be
resolved by removing the plans with assignment dupes and bring them back
into the system through the import process

What do you mean by assignment duplication?

Having more than one task assigned for a resource for a particular day?

In the second case, you project with ID#103 has become corrupt.

There is no project ID with 103.

I don't think we are facing problems because of training deficiency, it is
becuase of bugs in Project Server.

It's not that you're being ignored, but you're asking a question that can
only be answered by a thorough examination of your installation. You're out
of news group diagnosis range with a problem like this. What are you seeing
in the server application event log? Post each error entirely; maybe that
will give us more of a clue, but no promises.

HI All,

I have not yet got any reply for this question. please if anybody could
help
me out in this regard, it will be of great help. Once i got into this
problem, then reinstalled project server, then it started working, now
again
i am facing same problem, let me know if any other solution is there,
everytime I can not loose the data.

Hi All,

I am facing problem while publishing Project Plan from Professional 2003
to
project server 2003.

When i publish project plan, project name is getting listed in Project
Center but no task are getting displayed. I used Collaborate menu and
tried
Publish New Task and Changed Assigment as well. When I tried to pubish
New
Task and Changed Assigment , i am getting the - "Error Type -Publish New
and
changes Assignment - error code 0x800A0CC1 " .

What is the solution for this problem, please help.

Duplicate assignments = two assignments in the database with the same unique key. AKA database corruptions. There are known vulnerabilities in the non-SP1 version of PS2003 that can allow this to happen. Typically these involve the use of "assign myself to a task," such as the PM and the resource both taking this action at the same time and PM doesn't look closely at the updates to catch it, or if a accidentally hides a task and thinks assign myself is a good way to fix things.

As to your assertion that you don't have a project with the ID of 103; well then maybe you deleted it since you got the error message that you posted that specifically references this project ID.
