Publish / Provision SharePoint Site

After I have created my schedule in MS Project, then save and publish
and want to provision a project workspace, how does server determine
who has administrative access to the project workspace. I was under
the assumption that the Project Manager would be given full control
and administrator access to the site. Is this right?

Hi Rb,

Only the PM and his/her team have access to the Project Workspace that is
created when publishing the Projects. PM has truncated admin rights to
modify and create lists, documents within their workspaces. Team members
wouldnt be able to modify much on the workspaces.

However, PS Administrators have admin access to any of the workspaces. I
Hope this answers your question.

PM's have rights that are similar to the sharepoint web designer group which
is pretty much everything except the rights to adjust security. An admin can
go into the site and elevate the PM's rights so the PM could adjust security
/ users etc.

No, the project manager does not have Full Control permission or
administrator access to workspace; the workspace can be created
automatically or manually depending on the configuration of the project
server, elevated permissions are allowed based on the security model
implemented in your environment. Provisioning project workspaces may be the
role of your PMO or PWA administrator.
