publish to the web

I am now getting a different error message: cannot
connect to the FTP server on the computer name ....co.uk.
Under help its says that the error message is usually
associated with an attempt to access an FTP web site
through a fire wall/ proxy server and the settings are
not set correctly to gain access. Apparently I should
change the FTP proxy settings to allow access to the
site.

HOW do I do this? ANy ideas?

In the future don't start a new thread, just update your current one. That
way topics can be followed.

If you are on a network, and/or behind a firewall, then you'd have to
request of your admin person that you gain FTP protocol access.

I am the admin person! Working from home. How would I gain FTP protocol
access. I've been harrasing the ISP the whole day today about the read only
error message that comes through, and they have shown me that I can copy &
paste my website folder to the ftp location. The only problem is that it
stays a .pub file - as opposed to becoming a website! There apparently is not
access problem on the site as they have checked it - and published a file for
me to see. Any ideas???

Now I'm not clear on what you are doing if you are trying to load the pub
file instead of publishing to the web which generates the site files.

If you are certain you have no network/permissions/firewall/access issues
and you are certain you have followed my publishing directions properly then
all I can do is offer to try and reproduce your issue.

If you want to pursue that then send your pub file and server login info to
me at (e-mail address removed)

I received your file and info.

Right off the bat the upload URL you sent me looked odd.

That URL was not a valid URL. I could not connect to that URL in any client.

I then looked over your file to see if your pages had the domain name, a URL
of your site is something you've never posted.

I found your URL is http://mignonskincare.co.uk/

Which is totally different from the ftp URL. While they can differ the
domain name is typically the one to use. In this case since what you gave me
was bogus I tried it with your domain name - mignonskincare.co.uk

Using that it worked perfectly. I published your site.

I can only assume this has been a case of bad information or
miscommunication between you and the host.
