Publish to Web with Pub 2007 & Vista

I am having problems trying to publish to web with Vista.
Some time ago i upgraded to Publisher 2007 and have had no problems trying
to publish as an HTML, using my network places on windows.

With Vista i can not find my network places, or is there a different way to
publish to web as an HTML.
Can anyone help.

Hi brelade,

I have thus far avoided switching to Vista, but if memory serves, I think
Network Places has been changed to My Places.

David, good to hear from you again.

I am having a few snags with this, and thought someone must have an answer
for this problem, why was it so easy with XP, i am enjoying vista, but cant
get my head around this problem, i know the answer is straight forward, i
have added a new network link, but then it appears in serveral locations
multipled, then the save option dissappears, when i go back in, the programme
shows failing to respond, i have managed to upload but each time it is hit or
miss.

1.Publish to web takes you to my computer folder
2.Click on computer, which opens the hard drive / removable storage paine
3. Right click in paine "add new network location"
4.Follow on screen prompts (Shortcut location / user info)
5.At this stage i can view my server folders but the option to save
disappears.
6.I reopen from network setting then several replies start (programe not
responding / premission denied / cant access programe.)
7.When i renter my computer there is 3 x links all over the place each will
not open.

I cant be the only one with vista & publisher, i know i am trying to save as
html, but surly there should be this problem.

Any way always good to hear from you.
Cheers

Cheers David.
I have posted the question in vista, so monitoring both, it just surprises
me with the amount of publisher users out there and with vista now being used
more & more that no-one has the answer.

Cheers David

brelade,

Your name showed up last week in the regular newsgroup, when a thread of
yours was referenced about using anchors...

As I said, I am not using Vista, so it is hard for me to troubleshoot these
issues. I suspect that they involve one or more of the new security settings
built-in to Vista. Are you also using IE7? Another set of new security
issues...and problems.

Have you checked your host's FAQs to see if they have posted any updates
about how to use FPSE and HTML uploading protocol with Vista and/or IE7?

If someone else doesn't jump in here with some advice, perhaps you could
post your question in a Vista newsgroup or maybe a FrontPage group. If you
do post in those groups I would just say that you are using HTTP uploading
protocol with FPSE and the same techniques as you did in XP, and perhaps
avoid mentioning that you use Publisher. That tends to throw people for a
loop as they don't understand that the uploading is basically the same in
FrontPage.

I will do some more reading and if I get other ideas will post back.

Hello,
I just went through the same thing. It is really easy.
1. When you are happy with your web page select "PUBLISH TO WEB" while
viewing you 1st page or home page, By default the file should be named
"INDEX", save it to your computer in a dedicated folder.
2. Do the same with all of your other pages, save them in the same folder
with their own file name ie: page 2, page 3, page 4 etc.
3. After publishing all your pages to the same dedicated folder on your PC
open a new window using "START" "EXPLORE".
4. Type in the name of your web server ie: "ftp://ftp.hostname.net" and hit
the enter key or search.
5. You should then be promted to enter your "user name" and "password" then
hit the "enter key" or "LOG ON".
6. Now open a new explore window using "Start" "Explore" again.
7. Drag that new window up to the left a bit so you can see the previous
window behind it.
8. Now in the second EXPLORE window find the folder on your computer that
you published your web pages to and open it. You should see an Explorer Icon
and a corresponding Folder with the same name.
9. Highlight all of them or at least the "INDEX" file and "INDEX" folder.
10. Copy or drag and drop those items into the first explore window which
should you should still be open after signing on to your web server.
11. Thats it!
12. After it has copied at least the "index" file and folder over you should
be able to search the web using your domain address ie: 'www.homedepot.com'
and it will show just up as it did if you previewed you web page prior to
publishing it.

Good Luck
