Publisher 2000: Preparing to install

Everytime I open Publisher 2000, I get a message "preparing to install",
which then changes to "Please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office
2000 SR-1 Disk 2".

I have followed the recommendations from KB 265194 (including reinstalling
Access) - but Publisher still gives me the same message each time. No other
office application is giving me problems - only Publisher.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sometimes this will occur when Office is trying to repair a feature. What happens
when you disable your anti-virus program?
Have you used the "detect and repair?" Have you inserted disk 2 when you get this
message? Does Publisher find the disk?
You could try a Installer cleanup, most of the time this will solve may installer
issues. Be certain you have your product number.

Thanks Mary,

After trying everything else - (disabling virus scan, etc.) I used the
windows installer to uninstall all of Office (both CD1 and CD2) (thanks for
the link!), then used the MS Eraser utility to remove files, then rebooted,
and then reinstalled both office CD's. It took a while, but it worked.
