Publisher 2000 SR-1 (Error Code)

I recently bought a new PC with Office 2003 Basic pre-installed, I've only
just recently attempted to install my old Pulisher 2000 SR-1 CD-ROM, and I
keep getting these two error messages:

"Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine. Please
select the drive where a qualifying product can be found."

And...

"Error 1608. Could not find any previously installed compliant products on
the machine for installing their product."

I don't understand what a "qualifying product" is. Can anyone help? This
application had worked perfectly on my old PC. I'm typing the Product Key in
correctly...

Any advice is much appreciated.

Can only assume the 2000 version was an upgrade.

I thought that too, but it didn't say so on the CD-ROM case, however, after
posting this query, I also checked the disc, and yes, it was and upgrade...!
I never realised. However, I called a friend and she told me to just skip
the product key insertion dialogue box, which I did... and installation
kicked straight in! Then when I opened Publisher from the newly installed
shortcut, I was asked for the product key again... I typed it in and all's
well. )
