Publisher 2002 Key ID rejected

User InI have MS Office XP 2002 (preinstalled on my system by Dell). I had
disabled Publisher. Not remembering that, I tried to install Pub 2002. All
seemed OK, but...

Now when I start Pub it brings up the setup User Info screen and refuses to
accept either the new ID (from the new Pub 2002) jewel case, or the original
Office ID (from the OEM slip case).

The respective CD set numbers are:
Pub 2002: X08-06198
Office: X08-73057
