publisher 2003 printing to hp color laserjet

We currently have an HP Color Lasejet 3600 printer which is used by our
marketing department.
They are currently using Microsoft Publisher for a particular project.

This project is a multiple page brochure printed on 8.5x11
pages 4 and 5 make up a map which covers the full 8.5x11 page
there are different areas on the map highlighted with different colors. This
highlighting was done by drawing a box, then filling the box with a color and
changing the transperncy to 60%
One of the highlighted areas is composed of three boxes which just touch
each other, the same color and same transperency number is used for the three
boxes.

The problem is when I print this file to the hp laserjet 3600,
one of the boxes is a light aqua blue which prints as a light blue.
the area that is composed of three boxes prints two of the boxes one color
and the 3rd box is a different shade of the color
one area crosses the center of the page, and in the brochure falls between
pages 4 and 5. this shaded area is made up of a single box but the area of
the box that lands on page 4 is a blue and the area on page 5 is gray.
Then throughout the page there are different areas with the same exact
color, yet they print as different shades of that color.

I was looking for a color management file for the hp laserjet 3600 , but it
doesn't seem to exist

Any help would be great

I actually did look at a bunch of documentation on HP's Website and I spoke
to them as well. The printer prints fine from other programs, thats why i
think it is something with Publisher, or with something we are doing in
Publisher.

I have resolved the problem with the aqua blue printing as a light blue.

But all the other problems still stand, it is especially weird , because
throughout the page there are different areas with the same exact color, yet
they print as different shades of that color.

Thanks

Publisher has issues with transparency. If you select the transparent object,
right-click, save as picture, (.png or .tif) then insert the picture into your
document, you may not have your problem.
