Word art and small graphics flash and disappear on top of page on some pages,
other pages are fine. What is wrong and how can I fix?

Thanks

That IS a bit disconcerting, isn't it? Nothing is wrong though, and there is
no fix. This is just the way Pub 2003 web pages load.

Thanks David.

However, its been loading fine for a few weeks, but now even after 15
minutes or so, they still don't load. Some pages load okay, is there a
virtual memory or lack of disk space a problem all of a sudden?

Thanks David.

Its been loading fine since I first developed it a couple of weeks ago.
However, now even after 10 or 15 minutes, some of the graphics and word art
at the top of the
page never show up.

Maybe a memory problem?

Thanks,

Jerry,

When your page loads, do the picture boxes have a red X? Images can take
seemingly forever to load if you are using a slow dial up connection. Does
this happen with every computer you view the site with? Did you update your
computer recently? Please post the URL so we can look at it.

You could try going to Tools > Internet Options > and then delete the files
under Temp. internet files.

You could try reducing the size of your images in your favorite image
editing software before you embed them into your Pub doc, or use the
Compress Images feature:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011266301033.aspx

You could delete all the files on your web host server, and republish.

Maybe a full cache, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, delete files.

David,

Sorry, but I should have told you that this is happening in my .pub file and
not
as published to the host server. I am also very concerned that when I make an
update that this "image flashing", may disturb something on the server.

I have embedded a new image as a test and it loads fine. However, the
flashing
of the old images still happens. I have already done the things you
suggested when I originally created the web file (.pub).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jerry,

There is nothing to worry about the "image flashing" other than the images
taking a long time to load. As per your disappearing images, Publisher 2003
is very picky about video drivers, so let me use one of Mary Sauer's
answers:

"Sounds like a video driver issue.
Try this, slide the acceleration down on your adapter, control panel,
display,
settings tab, advanced button, troubleshoot tab. (About three notches)
If this solves your issue, go to the manufacturer's web site and look around
for an
updated graphics driver"

Personally, I would just go ahead and find an updated video driver...

Hello David,

Thanks for you pointing me to the settings feature in display, but that did
not work.

However, I do have some new info.;

I am using the template "Spotlight Easy Web Site" in publisher '03.

At the top of the page is a black rectangle object. The flash of the images
is when the program is laying the images behind this black rectangle. If I
move the black rectangle, I can move the object, etc., but when I put the
black rectangle object back and then try to lay the images on the black
rectangle, the image disappears behind the black rectangle again.

Thanks again.

OK...then try sending the black rectangle to the back. Click on the
rectangle, and go to the toolbar and look for an icon that looks kind of
like three little boxes overlapping, and choose 'send to the back'.
Alternatively Alt +Shift +F6. Or bring the pictures to the front...

Thanks David, that worked fine.
