Publisher 2007 Spelling Defaults to French

Why does my Publisher 2007 keep switching between French and English spell
check verification in the same text block of the same document?

I am working in files that were created several months ago and I am
attempting to make revisions within the existing text block. Spell checker
verifies any preexisting text as English, but then switches to French
spelling verification for anything new. This becomes evident by going to the
beginning of the text block and "F7" - I can see the Check Spelling switch
between English and French. New documents do not appear to be behaving in
this manner.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My search continues. . . I have found several articles regarding the
correction of a bug for French language defaulting in Outlook Express. I
have Outlook, but not Oulook Express.

I have recently added Access 2007 - could this be causing the problem? I
have verified that the dictionary is set to English.

While I was never able to correct this problem, I was able to identify
exactly where the change from English to French occurred. The change
occurred in an address after the street name and before the city. Spell
check continues reading the street name and city as different words even
after concatenating the street name and city together into one word. Reveal
Formatting gives no indication of any formatting changes. Go figure? ? ?

I created a work around by copying and pasting the text and then removing
the source formatting. I had to reapply the formatting to the document, but
this was much easier than retyping all of the text.

It sounds like you've set up the Language Tools to automatically detect
your language. This is flaky at best. (Modified through Start > Programs
Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office Language
Tools)

You do know, don't you, that you can set the language of the section
with Tools > Language > Set Language?

Thanks Ed. . . This is the answer that I have been searching for. All of my
searches for this topic pointed me to either the issues with Outlook Express
or the installation of the Microsoft office operating system.

Thanks!
