publisher 97 cannot load files from diff version

Publisher cannot load files from a different
version..................................

I am using the same version of publisher 97 that I have always used in a
new computer with windows xp home.
I have tried the programe compatability wizard for win 95/98 SE. and tried
to get word to open the files as well.
I have lots of cds with publisher work that I need to access and can't. I
suppose that if I could transfer the info to Word and access it , that would
be usefull
Can anyone help??????????

Copy the files to your hard drive, then try to open them.

Do you have Norton?

Hello mary .
My files are already copied to hard drive , they are in MY DOCUMENTS FILE.
and it shows that they are intact via the preview..........shown when
clicking for the first time. on secound click it goes into publisher then
displayes the message.
I DON'T HAVE NORTON ANTI VIRUS its nasty.
Perhaps I need file converters!!! if so where are they??
