Hi Mary - I don't know if this went through before. It doesn't look like it.
I clicked to post, unknown to me the page had timed out, and what I had
typed in was gone (This would be an improvement in browsers that I'd like to
see. How do I get that text back? You have to type what you want into
Notepad, save the file, and then copy and paste to the internet if you want
to avoid this issue.)
This feature with right-tabs is a new one for me (thank you!), but not what
I'm thinking of. I think that Pub97 must be able to do what I want, because
I've been able to do this in more recent versions of Publisher that I've
used, and it seems like an obvious feature that you'd like in a publishing
program. I think it must be buried somewhere. Let me describe again.
I can align text vertically (manually) by adding some returns at the top,
and doing it by sight. I can achieve greater accuracy in vertically aligning
the text, if I make the line/font size the minimum of 4 pt, and then adding
some returns at the top. What I'd like to be able to do, however, is to
click on a button that centers the text between the top and bottom margins
automatically, just like how I can click on the button that aligns text
horizontally between the left and right margins.
