i have previously used this copy of Publisher 97, now it gives me the
following error message when I try to open
it..."c:\windows\system32\autoexec.net. the system file is not suitable for
running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose "close" to
terminate the application.
i am using XP PRO.

I tried all of the "compatibility" options, 95,98, nt, etc, but it still
gives the same error message. (This is actually the same error message that I
get when i try to run the old "cardfile" program.)

your link helped me. i found both my autoexec.nt and config.nt in my
C:\windows\repair dir. I copied and pasted them into the C:\windows\system32
dir. that corrected my problem with publisher and a couple of other programs
with the exact same error message.
THANKS Mary!

Glad to help, Publisher 97 is a great program, has many features that newer versions
never included. The calendar option to start on Monday, raffle tickets templates, and
so on.
