Publisher application quits during startup at splash screen

Hi,
I'm working on a business presentation which contains a visio graphic. The
graphic contains wording which i would edit from within publisher by double
clicking it. From here i could change the font height from the publisher
tool bar. When done with the edits, i clicked out of the visio window
containing the graphic. The publisher toolbars dissapear and then the
application closes out. Now i can not open publisher at all. i keep getting
the error message dialog. publisher fails to start after a system restart
and a office detect and repair. The visio application is an evaluation copy.
I have read a trouble shooting guide for publisher which mentions changing
the global office language setting to english (US).I This hasn't made any
difference either. Is there any way i can fix this problem.

Regards,
Duncan

There will be more information when you click details on the error message
dialogue. Don't need all the information, it is usually long, but maybe there is
something there that will help sort it out. Have you inserted your Office disk
and repaired that way?

I suspect it has something to do with the trial Visio and how it interacts with
other 2003 programs.

Morning, still no joy. I had a look at the information from the report,
which didn't make sense to me at all. I can't copy the clear text- so what
i've done is gotten the information captured by the computer management
application event viewer. see below:

There is a Knowledge Base article that addresses Event ID 1000 as it pertains to
Office. You may want to read it, it involves registry fixes.
Windows Installer-related event IDs are logged in the Application log when you
start an Office program

If this is a Windows installer issue, there is the cleanup utility. If you
decide to use the utility be certain you have your product key. You might want
to run Belarc first.

thank you for the additional info above. have not opted to run the install
cleanertool yet. too risky. Did find something interesting. Publisher
works normaly in my partner's profile on this machine. For some reason
though, i am unable to save her office settings (no ini file in the same
folder as the settings wizard). Thought that i may be able to reinstall them
under my own profile. So the issue is the publisher works, but not in my
profile. in the interim i have also uninstalled Visio. the way I understand
the install cleaner, I will need to run it for my office install files. This
isn't an option at the moment becasue this is my only business machine. Any
other ideas.

Thank you once again

Thank you for the help with this issue. The only solution that i was able to
find was to create a new windows profile for myself. Unfortunately i had to
do this twice, because copying my application settings to the new profile
propagated the problem across as well. So second time lucky. What I have
identified though was that the problem was cased by editing a Visio 2003
graphic from within publisher 2003 document. This might be something worth
looking into. With out the help and assistance, we would have experienced
significant difficulty in giving our presentations this week.
