Publisher asking Product Key

I have a Dell machine that comes with it an Office XP SBE for quite sometime now. Excell, Word, and Access are used on a regular basis. Now, for the first time I opened the Publisher and it is asking me the Product Key.

I have the original CD with the Product Key. I tried several times to enter this number but is rejected as invalid. I don't understand why this happened when I already activated the Office XP

Any information that will bring resolution to this problem is deeply appreciated

The Product Key for Publisher is a separate product key.
It is listed separately on the case.
