How do I set up a Publisher catalog that looks and prints like a Mary
Kay or Avon catalog.
There are some templates in Publisher that you could adapt. Publisher
2003's Catalog Merge can make this easy for you - all you need is a database
of descriptions, product names, prices, and images [NB: The images in the
database should be paths to image filenames rather than having the actual
image in the actual database]
I have XP and Publisher 2003. I am networked to a Minolta 650 copy
machine.
That is good - you can print an 8½x11" finished-size brochure
When I try to print the copy machine wants me to select 11 x 17 paper.
You will need to print on 11 x 17" paper if you want an 8.5 x 11" brochure.
If you print on 8.5 x 11" paper, you will need to set the printer driver up
differently.
In Publisher, go to File > Page Setup > Printer And Paper > Properties.
This brings up your printer driver.
Now find the options for Page Size, and choose 8.5 x 11" (or whatever paper
you want it to print on)
Now click OK to exit the printer driver, and go to the Layout tab. Choose
Booklet.
If you have already done some design work on your publication this may be
altered by a change in page size.
In addition, the Minolta DiALTA Di650 has some great finishing options (I
assume this is the "copy machine" you have?) Somewhere in the printer
driver (you're back in File > Page Setup > Printer And Paper > Properties
again) you should have the option to use smart binding to crease the booklet
along the center line and staple it together - all automatically.
I was able to do this job when I had Office 98 and Publisher 2000.
Office 98 was a Mac release of Office. No version of Office:Mac or Mac
Office includes a version of Publisher, as there is no version of Publisher
for Macs. So it would be impossible (at least, until very recently with the
introduction of Mac emulators for PCs -
http://www.cherryos.com/ - or
without a Windows emulator on your Mac) to run Office 98 and Publisher 2000
concurrently on the same system. Perhaps you were running Office 2000 and
Publisher 2000? Or maybe Office 97 and Publisher 2000? I don't think it's
any different using Publisher 2000 to print booklet at 8.5x11", although
most other tasks have become much easier since Publisher 2000.
