Publisher color mgt

I'm having trouble accurately matching colors of full page pictures (for
calendars) printed from Publisher on Savin (Ricoh) CLP26/27 laserjet printers.
I've used Monaco to create monitor and printer ICC profiles, with accurate
monitor to printer results printing samples from Photoshop (w/ printer ICC
profile assigned to print space)...however accuracy is poor when printing
pictures from Publisher.

I have the latest drivers...printers have a Postscript 3 RIP, however I
prefer using RGB drivers (better print speed, quality appears same). I'm
using the RPCS (Ricoh) driver, with the color profile assigned. I've tried
every iteration of drivers and driver properties, but with RPCS and selecting
ICM from host (vs from printer driver or none) provides best results.

Questions- do pictures with embedded color profiles carry the profiles when
inserted into Publisher? I insert pictures from various sources. Does
Publisher do any color mgt which might be causing problems?

I understand the color profile creation part in this and that my workflow in
creating the profile is huge....just checking if anyone knows if there are
implications from printing from Publisher or any other considerations. I've
spent hours creating and modifying profiles and printed hundreds of samples
trying to get the best color and color match...but still not happy. Thanks.

Are the pictures linked or embedded?
Is the document rgb or cmyk?

FWIW, my usual workflow with pub is get the document OUT of publisher -
print to file and fix in acrobat pro and pitstop.

Thanks for the reply. The pictures are embedded and RBG. I haven't tried to
print them as linked files from photoshop, I'll try that next, may be more
consistent. But as you say, it may be easier/better to just get them out of
pub before printing.
