publisher faxing

I never had problems sending pc faxes with publisher before. Now, for some
reason, when i try to send a pc fax with publisher it just hangs. I don't
have a problem pc faxing any other office programs.

The message says: WAITING FOR PRINTER TO RESPOND: BROTHER PC-FAX

I have a brother all-in-one 420cn.

I never have problems printing from pc.

i've read FAQ and nothing similar to this.

yes, i'm using the full driver and software package. XP Home edition and
Office 2007.

I've been printing and faxing publisher with this printer since january
2006. The problem started 2 weeks ago.

I would do a fresh driver install but I don't think it would help since it
communicates when i want to print publisher, and it sends excel or word
documents with no glitches.

I uninstalled, then reinstalled the brother drivers after rebooting. The
problem still exists. It hangs when I want to fax a publisher document, but
works fine with any other document.

is it possible to uninstall only the publisher program, then reinstall it?

I don't recommend ever uninstalling then re-installing. You could try Office
Diagnostics in the Help drop down.
Have you been using Publisher 2007 since January 2006?
Do you get a print preview? Does it look correct? In the past two weeks have you
installed any new software? What about Office or Windows updates?

I already tried Diagnostics earlier today.
I was using Office 2000 until I installed Office 2007 in April 2008.
Print preview looks normal. I haven't installed any new software recently.
Now I'm looking at my XP and Office 2007 History Update list. I see lots of
updates to Office 2007. There's one update to Publisher on May 14 (KB950114).

I can only suggest using a different FAX program. I don't use an all-in-one so I
don't know why you cannot get the printer to work. I send fax messages straight
through the computer using the Windows fax printer.
You might try contacting Brother for support.

I just got off the phone with Brother support. They said they are certain
it's a Windows issue because it only happens when trying to fax a Publisher
document.

Short of uninstalling, then reinstalling Office 2007, is there anything else
I can try? Any settings in Publisher to tweak?
