Publisher for creating e-books

How can I use publisher to create e-books? In particular I would like to use
Publisher to produce e-books in the Microsoft reader .LIT format, although it
might be easier to use the Adoble .PDF format. I enjoy using Publisher
because it gives me more control than Word over format and layout, and
therefore think it would be the best vehicle for producing novels and
compilations of short stories that I want to publish.
