Publisher has started freezing

Publisher just started 'freezing". When I go into Task manager I see a bunch
of "verclsid.exe" files in the process section. I did some searching and
found that this file is from the last xp update and is screwing up hp
printers. Is it also screwing up publisher? I am running xp Pro 2002,
service pack 2 and Office Pro 2003 service pack 2. I am set for auto updates
so I have been receiving all updates.
