Hello, I had a general question. I will be switching over to a mac OS
and wanted to know if Microsoft has plans to release MS Publisher as
part of Offiice:mac. Thank You.

Hello -

Few, if anyone, in this ng has any idea, and those who may know are not
at liberty to disclose MS's marketing strategy.

FWIW, I wouldn't hold my breath. There are already a number of low-end
page layout apps available for Mac & the potential return on investment
probably doesn't justify recoding Publisher for another OS.

Publisher is not available on the Mac, and is not anticipated to be
developed any time soon.

Apple's relatively new product, Pages part of the iWork suite of
applications is worth considering. It's quite powerful in many ways that
save the drudgery. Only at version 1.0.2 right now, and there are some
things that need to be resolved, but it's very quick, and elegant.

* A SUGGESTION -- WAIT FOR CONSIDERED ADVICE: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is proposed; sometimes you'll be asked for further information so that a
better answer can be provided. Good tips about getting the best out of
posting are at http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari
you may see a blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload
the current page" -- a few times).

* AVOID SPAM: To avoid spam directed at contributors of newsgroups, you can
set up a "send-only" dummy e-mail account. Full guidelines are at

Aha. Finally, info on the system requirements. All apple's site would give
me was flash ads. I refuse to be driven to Tiger before I'm ready. :)

To the OP: There might be other page layout substitutes on the Mac, but
Pages seems like a good option. But if Publisher is a deal breaker, don't
switch. If you are really concerned about it, try browsing the Pages forum
to get a sense of what it can and can't do:

Just another suggestion: I can also recommend BeLight Software's
SwiftPublisher. The name can be slightly misleading to someone from the
Windows world, as it is not related to Microsoft Publisher, nor can it
import Publisher files, but it does its job quite well.
