Publisher will not stay open

I have a HP Pavillion dv8000 running Window XP home. I had MS Publisher 2000
running on this computer. I recently , on the advice of a HP chat
technician, upgraded the bios on the computer and now Publisher will not
stay open. When I click on publisher it opens but then shuts down
immediately. I hav tried uninstalling it and re-installng it but hte same
thing happens. Please help????

advice of HP Support?

Was the issue corrected by updating your BIOS?

Have you recently reinstalled or updated your printer
driver?
