Publishing 20 page chapbook, folded into 40 pages

Using Publisher 2007, how do print so that my cover page is on the right side
of the fold and my back cover is on the left side of the cover page; how do I
print subsequent pages so that when I fold the 8.5 x 11 in half the pages
will number
sequentially, i.e., page one on back of front cover, page 4 on back side of
page 3, etc.? I've seen the earlier thread, but choosing the Booklet in Page
Set Up, using duplex, etc., doesn't resolve numbering scheme. It seems MS
overlooked to include a user friendly macro or module that would
automatically calculate the scheme. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When you do a booklet in Publisher, the pages are automatically in the correct
order. If you want to see page 1 & 40 side by side, view print preview.
The page number options are in the Insert menu. If you want the numbering to
start on page two, go to page two, insert section, check begin section with
this page. Check start at: type 2. Okay out. Insert, page numbers.

Mary:

Thanks for trying but I think you misunderstood my question. It's not how I
want to view the document, it view perfectly. It's how it prints that is the
problem. I want it to print the 20 pages document so that when I fold the
8.5 x 11 document, that the odd numbered pages will appear sequentially on
the right side of the fold and the even numbered pages will appear
sequentially on the left side. Instead, for ex: pages 22 and 19 are on a
page -- that should be 18 and 19. On the back of those pages are page 17 and
24. That's not sequential! Pages 20 and 21 should be on the back of 19 and
22.
When printng, MS Publisher eschews the page numbering sequence. Comprende?
I appreciate your help.

I simply cannot see your problem. I have setup a 40 page booklet, 20-21 are
backed with 22-19. All the odd numbers are on the right. I even printed the
thing so as to make sure it is printing in sequence. Are you using a duplex unit
or are you manually turning the pages over? If it is the latter, you must
alternate the pages in the stack before turning the pages over. When you print
all in this manner you will get two copies of the booklet.

If you are manually turning the pages over and only want one copy, view, turn
two page spread off, go to page one, print current page, click no to the query.
Turn the sheet over, go to page two, print current page, click no and so on.
