Publishing a project

R

Rami

Hi

I am using MS project 2003 client and I am trying to publish a project but
it keeps giving me "you are trying to publish a non-enterprise project on
project server. The security settings on the server do not allow you to
publish a non-enterprise project"

I am connecting using a user with project manager role. I can only publish
when I remove the check on the check box of 'allow only enterprise projects'
in the server configuation

Thanks

From your description of the problem, I believe you are not logging into
Project Server through Microsoft Project, or your are trying to publish a
project that is outside the Project Server database and is stored as an .mpp
file. Here's how to check and make sure you are connecting to Project
Server:

1. Launch Microsoft Project Professional
2. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Microsoft Office Project Server
Accounts
3. Click the Add button
4. Enter an Account Name value and the URL for your Project Server instance
5. Click the Test Connection button
6. Click the "Set as default account" option
7. Click OK
8. Select the "Manually control connection state" option
9. Click OK
10. Close and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional
11. Click the Connect button

Once you have completed these steps, you will then need to IMPORT the your
..mpp file using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise.
Once you have imported your project into the Project Server database, you
will then be able to publish it. Hope this helps.
