Publishing a web site

M

Magnus

I am using pulisher to create a web site. I have created it 'published it'
and FTP'ed it to the root directory at the hosted web-site (UK2.net). I
copied the 'index.htm' file as well as the associated 'Index_files'
sub-directory.

However, when I type in the URL to see the web site, I only get the unix
type directory listing for the web-site, not the Web-Site itself.

In the initial email from UK2.net, they say it may take 48 hours for URL to
be visible? But as it already routes me to the correct site, I take it I must
have made some other error.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

1- Yes there's a time factor with new URLs

2- Your index page must be named to whatever your host requires. Some
possiblilities; index.htm, index.html, default.htm, default.html are most
common. Find out which one your host requires. Most hosts will put a
temporarily index page in the root folder so you don't see the directory
listings.

Magnus,

Are you sure you got the correct root directory? It is usually something
like html_public, http_docs, public_html, etc.
