Publishing Best Practices

In the Chefetz/Howard book, Managing Enterprise Projects, it has as
Publishing Best Practices (p. 110) that only one project should be open when
publishing & to save before publishing. Can you give some explanation as to
why? Especially the latter seems puzzling when a project is automatically
saved before publishing. Thanks,
