Publishing js files

Hi. I have FP2000 SR-1. When I publish my web site, *.js files do not
get updated on the server. From the publish dialog box I have to browse
to the server site, then open->web the server site and delete the *.js
files I plan to replace, then I can publish.

Why doesn't the publish option on my FP recognize js files? Is there
anything I can do to make it recognize js files?

are you using the same file.js name when you update?

Yep. For some reason my FP publish doesn't check the date/time stamp on
js files. I update these js files from within FP, using notepad.

I don't work with .js much so the below suggestions are theoretical
extrapolations, because this problem is similar nature to editing Images
outside of FP and not having the changes appear:

Register Notepad with FP so it's the text editor. This is in Tools |Options
| Configure Editors. Then you should be able to open the .js file from
within FP to edit it. When you save it FP should know abt the change.

OR

If you don't want to do it that way (from within FP) you should save the .js
outside of FP and them Import it into FP.

OR delete the old file.js and re-Import the new one.

OR you can try Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks

then re-Publish
