I signed up with them Sunday evening. Am I supposed to be waiting for
something, or what. I am in need of having my site up and running no later
than Monday, 9/19. illinoishomeservices.com

Joann,
yes that would be easiest. However, many things are playing against me here,
first being a lack of knowledge. 2nd is a missing user name. We remember our
password, but not our username. We don't have a peoplehost phone # to dial up,
and we can't get in to a link to retrieve our information. We accomplished
transferring the domain name today. I'm frustrated, but as David points out
from time to time, patience....... Maybe we will get some confirmation from
the name transfer which may include some username information. I hope so.

I have become aware of needing FTP software. Does anyone have an opinion on
FTP software and pub 2003?

Peace to all.

I would think that, with proper identification, peoplehost could tell you
your user name.

If I could find in their website a place to enter my proper identifaction to
retrieve my username, I would do that. But I can't find it. I've tried for
more than two hours today. Now that is not to say that place isn't in their
website, but not locating the page probably has more to do with me. I thank
you for trying to lead the horse to water.

I would suggest a phone call. You may have to give some indicator that you
are who you say you are. I know my host knows my log-in info but then again
I deal with a small mom-and-pop type host. I talk to the owner when I need
something, which, thank heavens, is only about once a year.

Yes a phone call, but that would be too easy. I have searched all over their
website for a number, all I came up with is the fax #. I am starting up a
company. I have my business cards made with my web address on them. I must
have that site up and running prior to handing out cards. I'd like it to be
up before Monday, I think I'm being reasonable with the time frame.

You're cutting it kind of close but it *can* be done. I'd suggest you get
that fax out first thing tomorrow morning.

JoAnn,
you may type using your normal digit configuations, mission accomplished.
Thanks for all your support. I had a bit of help with the publishing of my
site. I bumpped into an IT guy through a client. He gave my an hourly rate,
told me it would take 1-2 hours to make it happen, and I signed on with him.
He took my completed website that I built in publisher, turned it into HTML,
and got it published. He billed me for an hour of his time.

I got really hung up with the publishing process. It was incredibly
frustrating for me. This was the step in the process that I fell flat on. I
just could not get it. I learned quite a few things while trying to develope
my site, and given a bit more time, I would have gotten it published on my
own and learned another lesson or two, but not this time around. I feel
grateful that the publishing process was taken off my plate at such a fee.

This is a great forum. You MVPs are a wonderful bunch of people. I have
learned many things here. Thank you for spending the time.

I'm so glad to hear you got everything up and running - and in a short
period of time. I've often made the comment about using the right tool for
the job. Well, sometimes that "right rool" is a professional. :)

Good luck with your new site and I hope it pays off with jobs. :)
