Publishing password--remember my password

When you publish your disk-based Web to your server, you are prompted to fill
in a user name and password in order to connect. Under the Password box,
there should be a checkbox "Remember my password." When this box is checked,
the password is not remembered on any system I have ever used. However, the
user name is and will come up in a drop down list under the user name box.
So, here's my question: On some computers I use, the Remember my password
checkbox is missing and on other computers, it appears. Does anyone know how
to change a setting anywhere so that the Remember my password box is always
checked? Also, is it possible to have both the user name and password
remembered so that when you're working at home, you don't have to keep
filling these in? thanks in advance.

Passwords used by FP are "stored" using IE
In IE use Tools > Internet Options > Security
Click on 'Trusted' and on 'Custom Level'
Make sure the selection at the bottom is set to:
'Automatic logon with current username and password' and click OK
Click on 'Sites' and add your site URL in the 'Add this Web Site to the Zone', and OK, OK
- note: you may have to unselect the option: Require server verification (https)... to add your site

No luck. I tried this, but the check box is still missing in action. Any

In IE do you have save passwords turned on in Tools Internet Options Content Auto Complete

Yes. My technical support person at work asked me to check this link to the
article that explains how it works and when you have an option to save a
password

If you look under 'Credential Management' or 'Credential Prompting' you will
see the 'remember my password box' mentioned, but the article is so
technical, I'm drowning in it. If you could take a look, I would be forever
grateful.

it is a setting in local group policy. go to gpedit and go to:

computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>local
policies>security options

then look for Network access:do not allow storage of credentials.....
set it to disabled. it was probably on enabled but disabled is the
default

If you have Windows XP Pro, go to Start, Run and type in gpedit.msc This
will bring up the Group Policy Editor.

If you are trying to get FP to remember your credentials when you publish, they are managed by IE
Passwords used by FP are "stored" using IE
In IE use Tools > Internet Options > Security
Click on 'Trusted' and on 'Custom Level'
Make sure the selection at the bottom is set to:
'Automatic logon with current username and password' and click OK
Click on 'Sites' and add your site URL in the 'Add this Web Site to the Zone', and OK, OK
- note: you may have to unselect the option: Require server verification (https)... to add your site
