publishing templates to shared folder and trusting issues

R

Rod

I have a simple infopath template that relays on a webservice to show
some
data on 3 separate dropdown boxes, it is self signed. (same domain)

Now, after publishing the template to a shared folder reachable by
every user, i notice
that other domain users get prompted to confirm if they want to open
the
template as the certification entity is untrusted and it my supose a
security
risk to open it.

Which trust mode should i be using for creating/publishing my
templates if
i dont plan to access pcs outside my domain?
Should i require the administrator to sign them before publishing the
templates?
(I dont have or plan to buy a certificate from verisign, thawte or
other)

Hello

The Domain security level restricts a form to a particular Internet zone.
The form is allowed to communicate with other data inside its own domain but
is not permitted to retrieve data from other domains.

Hi Kalyan,

What exactly do you mean by "domain"? Is it the local network domain,
or the computer on which the form resides, or the specific location of
the form on the computer?

The certificate process is cumbersome and costly. Are there any
alternatives? Since we've gone to VS2005, I can't seem to use the
regform command as suggested by the VS help. And since we're not
buying VSTS yet, I can't use VSTO 2005 in my envrironment (tried to
install, but the new regform.exe didn't show up, and now the previous
version won't run after installing VS2005).
