Publishing timeout in FP2002

M

Maggi

I am having difficulties publishing changes to both my web sites that have
been designed using FP2002. Please can anyone offer me a possible solution?

I make my changes to either site and click "publish web". Everything seems
normal until it does about 20 seconds of the "listing pages in....domain" .
Then I get a error message reading "The server ""timed out. The current
request did not complete successfully".

Both sites are hosted with the same company and, naturally, I'm trying to
upload with the same ISP. I have checked with the hosting company and they
have tested and see no problems their end. I haven't updated anything
recently so no changes there either. And I had no problems with my last
updates about 2 weeks ago.

The only thing that is a little different is that whilst we usually have a
decent connection (1500/second down and 600 up) we seem to be having some
problems with that in as much as recently we've been getting periods of 750
down though still 600 up. Might this be my problem??

Please be gentle with me, I am a complete dunce when it comes to computers!

I'm sorry...I should also mention that whilst we have been having slower
connection speeds recently, this morning when I last tried to publish we are
sitting around 1200/second so not too bad. But I still can't publish :-(

The connection to your ISP could be the problem.

Thank you Thomas, I shall most certainly pursue that possibility.

I was getting a 1200/second test result this morning (from PCpitstop.com)
and still unable to publish....is it possible that there are other problems
with the connection (other than speed) that could cause me difficulties? All
the re-booting and re-setting in the world hasn't helped so far!

Next step, call the ISP and hope they can shed some light I guess.

Thx!

You will need to delete *.web file, download and run FP Cleaner at:

Thank you.

I've done that now...no change as yet.

I shall see if I can't get some input from our ISP?

A stupid question now follows; The little symbol at bottom right hand corner
of monitor that looks like two little monitor screens that light up then go
dull as the connection is made? Is that a reliable indication of a curent
connection? I ask because when I click "publish", this flashes on momentarily
then is "unlit" for about 18 seconds before a short, "lit" burst then
straight way the error message about the timeout. Does this info give any
leads??

Thx :)

That is a result not a cause
- something is closing or timing out your connection to the server
check your firewall or proxy or look for other programs (like Yahoo messenger) hogging port 80
