Punctuation appears in sent emails as boxes (using Outlook) ??

I have Windows XP and use Outlook as my email client & Word as preferred
medium. Some punctuation marks e.g. commas, inverted commas appear to the
recipient as boxes, and if I receive a reply, the sender's pnctuation is OK
but my returned message shows the same boxes. I don't even know where to
begin on this one. Can anyone offer a suggestion that doesnt involve
reloading Microsof Office?

it's either encoding or missing fonts. What encoding is your email set for
and what email client is the recipient using?
