Purchased Full Version of Word, Won't Accept My License Key

I downloaded the trial version of Word 2007, then purchased the full version,
but when I'm working in Word, it still says "Non-Commercial (Trial Version)"
at the top of the document, and everything is still getting saved with the
..docx extension. I'm concerned because I'm working on a 780-page book, and I
don't want Word 2007 to suddenly lock up on 2/29/08, which is when my trial
version expires. I thought once I purchased it, my documents would get saved
with the customary .doc extension and would no longer indicate at the top of
the document "Trial Version". I went to the Help Menu and read how to
activate Word and followed the instructions exactly, but when I go to Word
Options, Resources, Activate Word and enter the product key number Microsoft
e-mailed to me when it confirmed my purchase, (just like the Help menu said
to) I get a message saying something like Incorrect Product Key, Please
Re-enter. I've tried numerous times entering it using the cap locks key, not
using the cap locks key, copy and paste. I even tried entering the product
key for the trial version. It will not allow me to activate, and it doesn't
give the message Product Already Activated. Help!!
