purchasing Offce 2003 Academic version for home use

I'd like to purchase offcice 2003 to put on my computer
for home use only. I have a notebook at home with a copy
of Office for business uses that my companies supplies.
But I'd like a version of Office on my personal pc where I
do digital photography etc. This is not a business
purpose nor is it "formal" academic although I am a
student in taking on-line courses for various reasons.

I'd like to buy a copy of Office and I see no reason that
I should have to pay over $149 just because I don't have
kids. I'm trying to obey the laws. I probably won't even
use 50% of the office package. I could use the open
offices software or works but I'd rather the same software
that I use in the office. Can't I be a ligitimate user of
the academic version? If not then Microsoft will just
miss the sale because I can't justify paying more for
hobby/educational purposes.

Marciann:

To determine if you are elibilible for Academic pricing, review the
information on this link:

while not an MS rep, I would suggest that the critical factor in your case
is if the "on-line" courses you take are from an accredited institution.
Without that designation, students do not qualify.

I have a similiar hobby requirement for an expensive sports car, which is
denied me because I don't have the money. Luxury car makers will miss a sale
to me. Are there any other wish-fulfilment fantasies you would like to
justify?
