Purchasing used Office packages

Hi

I am considering purchasing an Office XP package from
EBay. Would this be legal and what type of obstacles would
I face? Certainly it must be an original but what would
happen if I purchased and tried to register a product that
has already been registered? Eg. the previous owner has
upgraded to Office 2003 and wants to sell his Office 2002
package.

If the Office XP was used as the qualifing product for the Upgrade to
Office 2003, they can't sell it, as they would no longer have the
qualifing product to use the Upgrade.
