Purpose of folder home pages

Hello, I've been exploring all the features of my new Outlook 2007 and came
across "Home Page" in the properties for folders. I tried it out, but I'm
not sure I really understand the concept...if I click "Show homepage by
default for this folder", the homepage comes up, but the mail messages in
that folder disappear. But, if I set up a homepage and don't check that box,
the home page doesn't appear anywhwere. Am I doing something wrong here?
And under what circumstances would one be most likely to use this feature?
Thank you!!!

You're not doing anything wrong. The purpose of a folder home page is to show a web page *instead* of the normal contents of a folder. Folder home pages are rarely used by individual users. They're mostly used by developers of applications based on Outlook.

Sue, Thanks so much for indulging my curiosity...I love "digging in" when I
get a new program, and this one had me stumped. Makes sense now!
