Pushing the limits on Entourage

I

Isaac de Abreu

Hi all

We have a super-user in our company that at anytime has three secretaries
around the world adding appointments or checking mail etc on his mailbox.

We are running Exchange 2003 with all the latest patches and updates but the
three users doing the data input are all using exactly the same version of
MS Outlook running on Windows XP and they all have the same permissions,
time zones etc.

The super-user has recently moved to Mac and for the most part almost
everything works perfectly EXCEPT that calendar items entered by two of his
secretaries do not show up on his calendar when accessed in Entourage. They
do show up if he uses Outlook running on his old PC.

If the super-user goes to his old XP machine and edits one of the
appointments (that are invisible in Entourage) by changing something as
simple as a comma etc then the calendar item suddenly pops up in Entourage.

This behaviour is driving us silly and any help would be most appreciated.

Sincerely
Isaac

What you're describing is what Microsoft calls "complex calendaring" and
this is not supported with Entourage 2008 when it connects to Exchange
Server via WebDAV.

The only kind of calendaring supported is:

• Non-recurring appointments
• Meetings that the calendar owner sends, modifies or cancels

For more information have a look at Microsoft's website
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920134>.

You might be interested in seeing if you have better luck with the
Entourage Exchange Web Services (EWS) that is currently in public beta.
EWS is a different protocol from WebDAV and therefore complex
calendaring may be supported. Have a look here:

Hope this helps!
