puting excel functions into websites

I have made a small spreadsheet in excel that can calcualate clothes sizes
when inputing various measurements. Is there a way of tranfering this to a
publisher website that enables users to input values on the webpage and then
using the excel functions to carry out calculations? (office 2003)

I kind of doubt it. Publisher produces static pages. You can add some
dynamic functionality using the insert html code fragment tool and inserting
javascript, CSS snippets, and other code snippets but I think the type of
functionality you are hoping for is beyond the scope of Publisher web pages.
Might be time to look to a different program to build your site...

Thanks for the reply. Would I be able to put such functionality into
frontpage? If so how can I open my publisher file in frontpage

Rob is a MS Web Expression MVP, and also knows FrontPage...wait until he
comes around to answer whether you can do this in FrontPage, but it
certainly is more likely than Publisher...or post your question in the FP
newsgroup. As per importing Publisher web pages into FP...don't waste the
time trying. The code is way different and it will be faster to rebuild it
than trying to fix the code. Sorry.

If you are ambitious and understand excel basic macro codes:

Try converting to JAVA script and inserting as an html fragment.

You can open your Publisher generated website in FP, but the code is
incredibly difficult to work with...much faster to redesign it in FP.

Actually, if you publish your Excel spreadsheet as a web page with the
interactivity option turned on, you can upload that page to your server. You
can put a link from Publisher to that file. The users can make changes and
the functions still work. If you need help on how to publish Excel as a
webpage, you can post back or e-mail me at (e-mail address removed).

and IE6, but apparently I need to install "the Microsoft Office 2003 Web
Components"? True?

Not really sure...

I have XP SP2 and IE6, but I don't get any messages when I open click on the
link to the spreadsheet. I have both Excel 03 and 07 on this machine. I
will try it on one of my office computers and see if I get any messages like
that.

tis true, and the viewer would need to have Excel as well (I believe),
that's why I said "kinda doubt it" in my earlier (non-verbose) post.

When I get the message I am also given a link to "Office 2003 Add-in: Office
Web Components":

Rob may be correct about needing Excel 2003. Sounds like the download will
let you view but not interact:

"...By installing the Office Web Components tool, users can view published
components and data access pages on the Web without having to install Office
2003. Note: If you do not own an Office 2003 license, the Office Web
Components are licensed to be used in static, non-interactive, client-side,
view-only mode. If you do own an Office 2003 license, the Office Web
Components are licensed to be used in interactive mode."

Just having Pub 2003 installed which is supposedly part of the Office
family, may not be enough either...

After going back and reading the description of the download again, it
sounds like you are mostly correct. You can watch, but you can't
play....seems kind of cruel ;-)
