Putting New Message Icon on Windows Quick Launch Bar

Hi All,
I just upgraded to Outlook 2003 from 2000. One of the things I dearly miss
is the icon I used to have on the Windows Quick Launch Bar. It looked like a
little envelope and when I clicked it it brought up a blank new message.
What was nice about the feature was that I did not need to have Outlook
loaded.

Where do I find this feature in Outlook 2003?

You can create a shortcut to outlook.exe and add the command-line switch "/c
ipm.note" - e.g.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\Outlook.exe /c ipm.note".

This is also possible with tasks, appointments etc. You find more

Create a new desktop/quick launch shortcut with a target of:

OUTLOOK.EXE /c ipm.note


How to:
* Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
\documents and settings\<userid>\application data\microsoft\internet
explorer\quick launch

* Select File > New > Shortcut > target would be:
"c:\program files\microsoft office\office11\outlook.exe" /c ipm.note
