Putting subtotal function below new record line in lists

Hi All

I'm using Exel 2004 (Macintosh version). Excel offer a tutorial in
using the list manager in the Help menu.
In this tutorial the example show how to define the columns and enter
data. This is all fine.
The finished example show the "Total" calculated BELOW the "new record
line". This is a very good place for this because when you carry out
subtotal calculations this line remains visible.

My problem is I cannot put anything below the "new record line"

Have is missed something? I've worked through the instructions and I
didn't see anything there.

Thanks in advance

In the List Wizard, Step 3, check the "Show totals row" checkbox. The
totals row will automatically be inserted below the new record line.
