PWA 2003 and IE 7.0 problem

Hi all,
Probably this is Internet Explorer issue, but anyway I think it is a good
place to ask a question.
I am administrator of Project Server 2003 from 3 years.
I have noticed problem when trying to open olap cube in PWA.
Here is an error I see:

"Unable to access the Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Analyzer OLAP cube.

The cube may not exist, or you may not have permissions to access the cube.
"

Of course cube exists and I got enough security rights and I am member of
administrators group on workstation.
When I try with the same account to access olap cube from different machine
everything works as expected.
The olap cube loads and I see everything.
It happens after I have upgraded Internet Explorer to 7.0.
I don't see any error in event viewer on machine where project server 2003
is installed (what is obvious - problem is probably on client's side)
but I don't see any error in event log on workstation either.
I am using Windows XP with SP2 and Internet Explorer 7.0.
It happens on several workstations where Internet Explorer was upgraded to
7.0.
I suspect that guys from Microsoft have changed something with security in
new Internet Explorer that prevents
activeX control to load.
When I click tools / manage add-ons / enable or disable add-ons there is
whole bunch of PWA related ActiveX controls and all of them are enabled.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

First thing to do is following:

In IE 7.0 go to the Internet Options.
Add the projectserver URL to the trusted sites.
Reset the security settings for trusted sites to LOW (you need to do
this as IE7 uses by default a higher level of security for trusted sites).

Guidho,
the projectserver URL was already added to the trusted sites,
but I didn't know that default security level for trusted sites is so high
in IE7.
Thanks a lot, I have adjusted security level and now it works.

Dran, Ghidho,

I have another couple of IE7 related issues I have already posted here:

1) When trying saving a Portfolio Analyzer view in a GIF file, after
reviewing the file name and clicking OK for the My Documents destination I
get the following error message:

"An error occurred while tryin to save the GIF file. The path or file may be
incorrect"

2) In SharePoint sites, when trying to display a list in "Edit in Datasheet"
mode format the following error is shown:

"The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the
following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows SharePoint
Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or
support for ActiveX controls is disabled. "

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Mauricio

I'm not sure what is causing the first problem.

But the second problem also might be related to IE security (blocking
ActiveX components from running). Add the EPM and WSS url to trusted
sites and reset the security level of the trusted sites zone to low.
