PWA 2007 Extremely SLOW Initial Page Load

We are doing a test migration from Project 2003 > Project 2007, however when
we go to the main Project Web Access site, it takes a long time to load,
probably about 15 seconds. After getting there, everything else is snappy.
This is really annoying, does anyone know why that initial page load takes so
long?

This should only affect the initial page load for the first user.
SharePoint doesn't load certain application components until the page
is actually requested. The first request for a PWA page forces the
load of PWA components as well as some of the SSP components, I
believe. It should be decent after that until the server is restarted.
There are some scripts out there to call these pages after a server
start up so that no one runs into this problem.

Update: It's the "Reminders" webpart that is sooooo slow. If I remove it,
the page loads quick. Is there any way to speed this up, it is very slow,
but I find it useful, so I don't want to remove it. It's quick with PWA
2003, so why the poor performance in 2007?

Actually, it's slow every single time we load this page. We foudn out that
if we remove the "" web part, the page load is very fast. Actually, we think
it's the risks and issues portion of the web part because if we click on the
Risks and Issues header, that page takes very long to load....any suggestions?

We ended up turning off the "Reminders" web part, and now it is quick and
snappy. After installing a hotfix from Microsoft to fix the issue, it
completely hosed our installation two days before go live and we had to push
it out another couple of weeks. We are in production now, still with no
resolution to this issue, we just don't use the Reminders web part (The My
Risks/Issues page loads really slow too, must be related)
