PWA 2007 - Refresh Project Enterprise Fields

J

Jason

Hi All,

I have created a custom enterprise project field in Project Server
2007. The field calculates a number based on the Last Updated
parameter and Current Date (so that I can use it to create a Graphical
Indicator).

Projects Updated in last week = green light
Projects Updated in last month = yellow light
Projects Updated more than a month ago = red light

I have added my graphical indicator to a view in Project Web Access
(PWA) and then republished all Projects. This works and all Projects
are given a green light. However, after a week of not updating
Projects, the graphical indicator is not updated in my PWA view - all
Projects still have the green light indicator.

I thought that enterprise fields are now calculated in Project Server
not Project Professional. Can someone confirm this and provide some
advice or have I got this all wrong?

I am using Project Server 2007 and Project Professional 2007

There is a limited publishing engine in Project Server now, but reliable
publishing only happens in Project pro still.

I don't know what you mean Rod. Does this mean that the publishing
engine in Project Server does not have access to fields such as
LastUpdated or CurrentDate, or does this mean that the publishing
engine won't update Projects automatically?

What does the publishing engine do and are there ways of triggering
the engine to run, or is there a scheduled execution period?

I don't really see the point of having Indicator fields if they do not
update automatically, without a Project Manager having to republish
their Projects.

The indicator fields usually all link to project data, so unless the project
is open, no change.

If you edit a formula or indicator in Project Server, you have to have
Project Pro 2007 open as well. PWA opens it automatically if you haven't
already got it open. This indicates that project Server cannot calculate
formulae or refresh RAG fields competently without Pro open.
