pwa access speed

What would be considered 'nornal' for the amount of time for the pwa home
page to open. I used multiple instances of pwa, different wfe and tried
connecting to brand new databases on multiple sql servers and pwa still takes
30sec to 1 min to open? On my dev system, it takes 5 seconds. Other
sharepoint sites open within a few seconds on the prod system.

Hi bigerjohn,

the performance very much depends on 1. Hardware, 2. Network. What I can
tell you is that gererally PWA opens very quick. It may takes a little while
when restarting the server due to the JIT compilation from Dot Net, but once
you hit the page once it will generally cache the page and therefore you will
be abl to access PWA very quickly. I would check if there are any issues with
your network, since this is often the cause for performance issues.
Hope this helps

Hi Biker,

I don't know what happen to my post but what I found out was that by Default
the Reminder web part performs a searches on all relevant workspace to find
any Issues Or Risks assigned to the currently logged in users. This searching
actually creates a noticable delay on the PWA Home Page loading. To improve
the load time I would edit the web part properties and disable the reminder
for Risks and Issues. If this improves your load time, then this is the
culprit. If you also have other web parts on the home page, they too could be
the problem. If that is the case, you will haev to remove the relevant
webpart to see which one is causing the delay.

Hope this help.

I edited the reminders web part and deselected issues and risks. The page
now opens in about 3 seconds. I am still asking my dba to index the tables
related to issues and risks on the sql server to see if we can add them back.
If not, I am I am pretty sure we can live without the issues risks on the
front page. Thanks alot for the help, now if I can just get data analysis
working, I can go back to the home office instead of being on site!!!!!
